Oil Pan Bird by Jessie Hughes Starts New Job as Artists Market Open Sign

Oil Pan Bird by Jessie Hughes

Northern Michigan Artists Market artist Jessie Hughes of Levering, Michigan, recently brought in a series of fanciful creatures welded together from no longer needed parts of no longer functional objects.  We fell in love with this particular bird so we decided to buy him and give him a job welcoming people to the Artists Market.

We dressed him up a bit and we give him lots of time to enjoy the outdoors here in Northern Michigan.  Check him out and say hi next time you pass by, and come in and see other works by Jessie Hughes and over eighty other wonderful Northern Michigan artists.

By the way, any ideas for a name?

Artists Market Artist T.L. Baumhardt Releases New Watercolor in her Petoskey Stone Animal Series

Petoskey Stone Bison

Northern Michigan Artists Market artist T.L. Baumhardt paints enchanting watercolors of a huge variety of fairies and other possibly fanciful creatures.  For the last year or so, she has painted portraits of Petoskey stone creatures, presumably native only to Northern Michigan.

We were particularly taken by this just released addition to the series -- Petoskey Stone Bison with a crown of flowers.  We have yet to receive any reports of such a creature in the local woods, but you should probably on the lookout.  The Petoskey Stone Bison is for now presumed to be friendly, and highly magical, but it is probably best to approach with caution.  The series also includes Petoskey stone mice, rabbits, birds, frogs and other delightful and enchanting creatures

Of course the watercolor print, along with Ms. Barnhardt's other Petoskey stone animals, fairies, and other magical creatures  can be safely viewed at the Northern Michigan Artists Market
