Honeysuckle Creek Arts is the joint creative effort of Vern and Marilyn Reed. They have been married for forty-seven years and have three grown children and seven grandchildren. Vern H. Reed is a retired industrial arts teacher and Michigan Hall of Fame football coach. He thoroughly enjoys working in his shop. Even though he misses teaching and coaching, he is happy to have the time to work on his own projects. Making pepper mills evolved from Vern's use of the lathe, one of his favorite tools. He says that working with many diferent types of wood and creating his own designs is a fun and satisfying hobby. Vern has also crafted many large furniture items including cradles, quilt racks and grandfather clocks. Marilyn E. Reed has many hobbies. Her favorite pastimes are music and art. In an earlier age, before CD's and mp3 players, piano accompanists were much in demand. More recently, she enjoyed participating in a show choir. Painting on patio stones is Marilyn's recent artistic challenge. While the Northern Michigan Artists Market is the first place she has shown her stones, her previous paintings were accepted in all three of the juried shows she entered. Marilyn thoroughly enjoys her family and her retirement, particularly sharing Honeysuckle Creek Arts with her husband Vern. | |||||||||
