My art education started in nursery school where I was deemed an "easel hog". I painted on my own and took art classes though-out grade school, high school and college, receiving a B.S. in Education with a major in Fine Arts from Central Michigan University. Later in life, I began working on a Master of Fine Arts when, I accepted a teaching fellowship from Radford University in Virginia. I have taught art classes at Troy Public Schools in Michigan, North Central Michigan College and Radford University and have lead art workshops for many art councils, including the McCune Arts Center, Gaylord Council for the Arts, Elder-Hostel and others. I work in many mediums, primarily, oils and watercolor. Landscapes and figures are my favorite subjects. Painting on site (plein air) is the most delightful way for me to get to know a place. I will be leading a painters' workshop on Mackinac Island this September 7th - 10th through the Murray Hotel -- The workshop is "plein air painting with a focus on design. Call me or email if you are interested in joining us. My goal in life is to keep enjoying this world and pass on my perspectives, as an artist. I hope to help others, whom are so inclined, do the same. | |||||||||
